Start with the very popular Jaisalmer Fort built in the 12th century by the Bhati Rajput ruler Rao Jaisal. The architectural design of this fort looks marvelous and it underlines the lavish lifestyle of the kings and queens of the past.

Gadi Sagar Lake is also a stunning attraction of the city where one can spend some moments of peace. The views around the lake look heart pleasing, especially during evening hours. The best time to visit the lake is during the flamboyant festival of Ganguar when streams of local women flock here to perform various rituals.

Do not forget to add Bada Bagh as well in your itinerary if you have an inclination towards Mother Nature. The garden looks impressive and is ideal to enjoy some unseen facets of nature. Apart from these, Patwon-Ki-Haveli also adds to the cultural heritage of Jaisalmer. This is a cluster of five small havelis flaunting beautiful hues of gold.

When to Visit

Travelers must plan holidays to Jaisalmer from November to March to relish winter breeze while touring around.  During these months temperature even drops to 7 or 8 degree Celsius during night as it is a desert city. Months from April to August are extremely hot when temperature rises to even 42 to 25 degree Celsius during day time. Winter months from September to October are also good to relish rain showers.

How to Reach
By Air: Jaisalmer Airport is a military airport and thus, only chartered flights are operated here. Jodhpur Airport is the closest domestic airport to the city.
By Rail: Jaisalmer station is well connected with a wide network of trains connecting the city to Delhi, Jodhpur, Jaipur and others.
By Road: Bus services are available to Jaisalmer from Jaipur. One can also enjoy drive to the city as roads are well maintained here.
