The town of Ranakpur remains a significant place for Jain pilgrims as it houses the Ranakpur Jain Temple, one of the biggest Jain temple complexes of India. The temple covers an area of 4500 square yards, housing over 29 halls. The temple belongs to the reign of the Rajput monarch Rana Kumbha during the 15th century. Since then it has gained great popularity among travelers due to its marvelous architecture. The shrines here feature pillared halls and domes supported by 1,444 delicately carved columns. The ceiling work includes fine scrollwork and geometric patterns. The main temple, Chaumukh is a beautiful four faced temple and remains a must visit here.
Surya Narayan Temple, dedicated to Sun God, is also popular in Ranakpur. The temple houses a huge sculpture of Lord Surya riding a chariot with seven horses. Muchhal Mahavir Temple is another prominent temple here dedicated to Lord Mahavir. The temple is situated in the Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary and houses two sculptures of elephants right at the entry.
Though the town is small, it is great to gratify the shopper inside you. Here you can buy silver jewelry and gem stones. Local artisans also create beautiful stone carved products and sell them in the market of Ranakpur.

Ranakpur remains hot and dry during summer months (March – June) when touring become really difficult. Thus, winter months (October - February) and monsoon months (July - September) are ideal to cherish its beauty.
