One can find numerous courtyards, pavilions, corridors, terraces and hanging gardens adorning this historic marvel. Lake Palace is another wonder of the city built in the 18th Century. The Palace is situated on the Jag Niwas Island and is nestling with dreamlike Lake Pichola. Its grand courtyards depict some legendary historical tales.

Another masterpiece adorning the city of Udaipur is Jag Mandir, the ‘Lake Garden Palace’. It used to serve as a summer resort to the royal family in the past. Today it catches the fancy of every visitor with its grand marble statues and spacious courtyards, which look breathtaking during sunrise and sunset.

Jag Mandir is another wonder of this romance oozing city. This is a 17th century structure rising up to three-stories. Some of the most beautiful features of the monument are Gul Mahal, a Garden Courtyard and the Darikhana. To delve into the local cultures, visit Jagdish Temple which was constructed by Maharana Jagat Singh. The temple complex houses a statue of Lord Vishnu in black stone. Many other shrines of Lord Ganesha, the Sun God, Goddess Shakti and Lord Shiva have also been places here.

On a clear day, a visit to the Saheliyon Ki Bari bestows a beautiful experience. This garden complex was made Maharana Bhopal Singh as a relaxing place for the queen and her attendants.

When to Visit

The best time to visit Udaipur is between the months of September and March. This is the winter season when climate remains pleasant and ideal for sightseeing. Monsoon months from July to October are also great to relish the lush green façade of Udaipur.
